“The future will be green, or not at all. This truth lies at the heart of humankind’s most pressing challenge: to learn to live in harmony with the Earth on a genuinely sustainable basis.”
~ Sir Jonathon Porritt
Research around the topic of urban resilience and sustainable development in light of the many challenges faced by cities, are one that MCA values highly.
Most recently MCA was invited by the Sustainability Institute to work on a series of Quick Guides on behalf of the UN-Habitat. Printed in 2012 and aimed at urban managers the series, evolving around a central theme of Urban Patters for a Green Economy, included guides on infrastructure; leveraging density; working with nature; and clustering for competitiveness. MCA produced two of the four guides on ‘leveraging density’ and ‘working with nature’. This work led to Matt Cullinan and Gill Cullinan being invited to attend an expert group meeting on fragmentation in Barcelona in May 2012.
